Chinese School
August 6th was the last day I had to volunteer at Chinese School. Sadly, I was just getting a hang of controlling the kids the last few days I went there. Regardless, it’s an experience I won’t forget, among other things it might’ve made me marginally more immature in some ways but I had a great time. Chinese school led me to a realization that I don’t talk to people until my purpose at a place is on the verge of ending. I could’ve made volunteering more fun by talking to Tyler or Grace who go to freaking Berkeley and Cornell and have gotten a lot from talking to them but I think that since I initially deigned going to Chinese School, I decided not to get too involved there.
I realize that that’s how my senior year was too. Circumstances careened me more towards the Juniors until AP Exams, after which College hit me and I’m making an effort to get to know seniors which will possibly end up hopeless. Dang it. This better not happen at UT.
Anyway, on my last day there, to my surprise (I was actually taken aback since what hap’d to Y and N) the Principal gave me an envelope with $50 Wal-Mart gift card and a little Asian bow, to which i returned the formality by receiving the envelope with both hands and bowing down. (Hurray for not forgetting Karate etiquette!)
I gave my parents the $50 gift card just to receive $50 in cash. Which about 12 hours ago, funded my purchase of an acoustic guitar!
